Terms of use

A journal and an analysis tool — not advice, not a broker.

SageTradingJournal helps you record, replay and analyse your own trading. It does not execute trades, does not provide investment advice, and does not promise that any result you see in it will repeat.

Last updated 9 September 2026. Plain language, not legal advice.

What the service is

A web application for keeping a trading journal, backtesting strategies on historical market data, analysing your own trading statistics, tracking prop-firm rules against your trades, and related tools. It is provided free of charge.

What it is not

It is not a broker, an exchange, an investment adviser or a signal service. Nothing in the product — statistics, grades, simulations, coaching text, progression rewards — is a recommendation to buy or sell anything. Trading involves substantial risk of loss. Decisions you make are yours.

Backtested and simulated results are computed from historical data under stated assumptions (for example, spread modelled and slippage beyond spread not modelled). They are evidence about the past, not a forecast, and they do not include your own behaviour under real risk.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for what happens under your account. One person per account. You must be old enough to enter into this agreement where you live.

Your content

Your trades, notes, screenshots and everything else you record remain yours. You grant us only what is needed to store and display them to you and, where you explicitly enable sharing, to the people you choose to share with. We do not sell your data or use it to train models.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to access other users' data, disrupt the service, upload content you have no right to, or use the service to break the law. Public sharing surfaces must not be used to mislead others; the platform labels the credibility of shared results honestly and expects the same of you.

Availability and changes

The service is provided as-is, without warranty of uninterrupted availability or of fitness for any particular purpose. Features change, and occasionally something breaks; we fix what we can as fast as we can. Because the software is self-hostable, you are never dependent on us to keep access to your own data.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for trading losses or for any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the service. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Third-party components

Charting is provided by TradingView under its own licence terms. Historical market data is obtained from third-party providers and is provided for analysis only.
