Progression

Level up as a trader — for the work, never the risk.

Gamification in trading is usually a trap: points for trading more, badges for bigger wins. Sage's progression system is built the other way round. Every skill in the tree, every mission and every level is derived from your real activity — trades journaled with notes, backtest sessions run, analyses read, check-ins kept, rules held, plays written and tested — and none of it rewards volume or size. Volume pays diminishing XP; a research habit out-earns five thousand backtest trades, and the verification script asserts it. It is a game about becoming a better trader, played by doing the boring, correct things.

What it is

Trader Progression & Gamified Development, concretely.

Derived

Nothing is a counter you can farm

Every metric the achievements judge — plays written, sessions run, check-ins, rules kept, notes written — is computed from your existing journal, playbook and backtest data. There is no button that grants XP.

Four branches

A skill tree of trading habits

Research (backtest, replay, experiment), Analyst (understand your own data), Discipline (consistent behaviour, kept rules) and Strategy (build, version, validate — including the Playbook chain from first play to a real sample). Titles run from Beginner to Sage at level 100.

Missions

Daily, weekly, bounties

Three daily postings chosen by the date, two weekly ones that ask for habits — sessions, reviews, check-ins — and bounties for the skills you are closest to. Claiming is the fun part; the server verifies before paying.

Gold

Rewards you can see every day

Gold from skills and missions buys cosmetics in the Vault: colour themes that repaint the whole app, sidebar skins, card skins for your backtest sessions, badges worn beside your name, and characters — with trophies unlocked by specific achievements, like finding an edge.

Two views

Open world or plain list

Walk a 3D valley where each skill is a waystone and the mission board is at camp — or use the classic view: level, missions, skills and the Vault as an ordinary page. Both read the same data; the choice is remembered, and phones default to the list.

Honest

Celebrations that respect history

Your first visit records everything you have already earned silently — a trader with a year of history is not made to sit through thirty pop-ups — and pays the gold once.

How it works

How a trader actually uses it.

  1. 01

Do the work you already do

Journal with notes, run a backtest, read your analytics, check in, keep a rule, write a play. The tree fills in from what you did.

  2. 02

    Claim the missions

Daily and weekly postings sit on the board. Complete one and claim it; bounties pay themselves when the skill unlocks.

  3. 03

    Spend gold in the Vault

Themes, sidebar skins, card skins, badges, characters. Wear them everywhere in the app, from the Vault or the Inventory.

  4. 04

    Watch the branches

Which branch lags tells you something real: a full Research branch and an empty Discipline one is a trader who tests well and trades badly.

What it is, and isn't

Straight about the limits.

It does

  • Levels, XP and titles derived from real activity; a four-branch skill tree with dependencies
  • Daily, weekly and bounty missions verified server-side; gold; a Vault of themes, sidebar skins, card skins, badges and characters; trophies gated by achievements
  • A 3D open-world view and a classic list view of the same progression, with a remembered choice
  • Diminishing XP for volume, so grinding cannot buy levels

It doesn't

  • Reward P&L, trade count, position size or risk taken
  • Rank you against other traders — the leaderboard is a separate, opt-in, verified-only surface
  • Sell anything: every cosmetic is bought with gold earned in the app
  • Change how the journal, analytics or backtester work

Trader Progression & Gamified Development, answered.

Does the gamification encourage overtrading?
It is designed not to. XP for trade volume falls off sharply after a modest count, no achievement rewards P&L or size, and the missions ask for habits — a check-in, notes on a trade, a review, a backtest session — rather than more trades. The verification suite asserts that a research habit out-earns thousands of backtest trades.
What can I buy with gold?
Cosmetics only: colour themes that repaint the app, sidebar skins, card skins for backtest sessions, badges worn beside your name, and characters for the open world. Some are trophies unlocked by specific achievements rather than bought.
Do I have to use the 3D world?
No. The classic view shows the same level, missions, skills and Vault as an ordinary page, and is the default on phones. You can switch at any time; the choice is remembered on that device.
Is any of this shared publicly?
No. Progression is private. Sharing anything — stats, a certificate, a backtest record — is a separate opt-in in the community settings, and the leaderboard only ranks results the platform itself verified.
